A Columbia childrenâ??s theatre group is getting a new home.
TRYPS, or Theatre Reaching Young People and Schools, is moving from the Columbia Mall to Stephens College.
The theatre program will occupy all 3 floors of the west wing of Hickman Hall on the corner of College Avenue and Broadway beginning on April 1.
Stephens College President Dianne Lynch said her school is the perfect location for the program.
Lynch said, â??TRYPS reaches between 25,000 and 30,000 kids and their families every year, including the thousands of children in our public schools who see the performances every season and those who attend the TRYPS workshops. Some of them are as young as 10 months old.â??
The TRYPS instituteâ??s first production at Stephens College will be â??Willy Wonka, Jr.â?? on April 4 through 6 at Macklanburg Playhouse.
