The government shutdown has area Social Security field offices offering limited services.
Columbiaâ??s Assistant District Manager Matt Skelton said walk-ins wanting new or replacement social security cards because of a name change or proof of identification will have to wait.
The shutdown is also preventing people from replacing their Medicaid cards and issuing a proof of income letter from Social Security field offices.
