Schools back in session, bus in ditch on snow routes

Most Mid Missouri schools are headed back to class Monday after school was closed four days last week from more than a foot of snow and blizzard conditions.

Many districts, including Jefferson City and Columbia, are running their buses on snow routes. But parents have been calling KRCG this morning saying snow routes aren't helping in some areas.

Callers have told us multiple buses are off the roads in the Morgan County R-1 District in Stover. One parent picked thier kids up from a bus that was in the ditch on Mini Farm Drive, off Route J and 135. The parent said the bus went into the ditch around 7:15 a.m. and the bus was blocking the road.

In the South Callaway District, a bus was stuck on the County Road 407 around the same time Monday morning. The driver was unable to turn around on the snow covered road, and the bus has students on board.

Parents tell KRCG they haven't heard of any injuries.

Tell us what you think. Have you head of any other buses being stuck on the way to school? Do you think it was too soon for kids to go back to school?
