The old Ashland high school building is coming down.
The Southern Boone County School Board approved the demolition of the old school because it is not safe.
School District Superintendent Chris Felmlee said he plans to use the old high schoolâ??s land to expand the nearby middle school within the next 10 years.
Felmlee said community members want to save some historical artifacts from the 111-year-old building including the limestone headstone over the building and some original stonework.
Demolition crews are expected to start their work early next week.
