Nominate a tree to decorate the Governor's Mansion at Christmas!

It may be the middle of summer, but the Missouri Department of Conservation is looking ahead to Christmas. They are searching for the tree that will decorate the Governor's Mansion in Jefferson City.

The MDC is asking Missourians to nominate evergreens. Entries must by a white pine, Norway spruce or eastern red cedar. The tree must be at least 40 feet tall and full branched on all sides.

The site of the tree needs to be accessible by a large truck that will be used to remove the tree. The MDC will remove the tree at no cost to the property owner. The tree also has to be donated at no cost.

You can send photos to, or you can mail them to: Missouri Department of Conservation, Holiday Tree, PO Box 180, Jefferson City, MO 65102. All nominations must be received by September 30th. Include property owner name, address, telephone number, email address, location of the tree, and several pictures taken from different angles and distances. A full list of rules and guidelines can be found on the MDC website at
