Soon, fitness enthusiasts in the Capital City will have a new place to break a sweat. The new West YMCA will open on April 15.
Ground was broken a year ago for the facility which will feature more cardio equipment and some specialized work-out gear.
"There's a lot more space, personal trainer Renee Johnson said. There's a lot more advanced equipment, very modernized and a lot more variety."
Fitness classes will be held in the multi-purpose room, including some classes that will make their debut at the new YMCA.
"We are just so excited to be able to offer this facility to the community, supervisor Becky Pfenenger said. We've been long awaiting this just like the community has and the staff is ready to serve all of our members and any new coming members in the Jefferson City area."
Current YMCA members will be able to use the new facility when it opens. Those who want to get a membership would be able to choose between the Firley, Knowles or West location to work out.
