Music festival causes minimal damage at park

City inspectors said the large crowds caused a few worn spots and ruts in the grass.

Festival goers caused minimal damage at this yearâ??s Roots N Blues N Barbecue event at Stephens Lake Park.

Thatâ??s according to Columbia Parks and Recreation Department officials.

City inspectors said the large crowds caused a few worn spots and ruts in the grass.

No one damaged any of the parkâ??s buildings.

Ground crews are using an airification process to replenish worn grass areas.

Park officials said the parkâ??s dry ground was very beneficial in preventing any serious problems.

The cost of any damage to the park has been covered by ticket sales to the festival.

Park officials received $2 for every ticket sold.

Festival organizers said they wonâ??t have any firm numbers on attendance at this yearâ??s festival until early next week.

They said attendance on Saturday was larger than last yearâ??s event.
