Researchers at the MU School of Medicine received a $500,000 gift Tuesday. Representatives from the Leda J. Sears Trust made the announcement at the MU Childrenâ??s Hospital.
Researchers will use the money to help patients with autism, diabetes and childhood obesity. The Sears Trust has given $1.2 million to MU researchers since 1991. Doctors hope this latest gift attracts other donations.
MU Childrenâ??s Hospital Director Dr. Timothy Fete said, â??A gift of this magnitude allows us to go to other potential philanthropists and say the Sears Trust has faith in us to use their money for the good of childrenâ??s research. Would you be willing to match that type of funding?â??
Researchers said the Sears Trust gift will help children all over the world.
