Thousands of people gathered on the Mizzou campus for a huge birthday celebration.
This year marks the 175th anniversary of the University of Missouriâ??s founding on this day in 1839.
Truman the Tiger and all of his friends sang happy birthday at Mizzouâ??s Student Center.
Dignitaries lit candles on a birthday cake resembling Jesse Hall and The Columns.
People at the celebration got cupcakes and ice cream as well as free T-shirts marking the occasion.
MU Chancellor R. Bowen Loftin said, â??The real interesting thing is where Missouri is right now. This is truly a great institution. We are going to get greater over time because the people here able and got this place to where it is today.â??
Loftin said Tigers everywhere took time to look back at Mizzou moments and milestones that have shaped their university.
