Dozens of people gathered at Wardsvillleâ??s Mid America Bank for an anniversary open house with free food and prizes.

A community bank is celebrating 100 years of serving the Mid-Missouri community.

Dozens of people gathered at Wardsvillle??s Mid America Bank for an anniversary open house with free food and prizes.

The bank started out as The Peoples Bank of St. Thomas in 1914.

One hundred years later the bank serves customers in Wardsville, Holts Summit, Linn, Belle and Meta.

A bald eagle demonstration was part of the festivities.

A 19-year-old female bald eagle named ??Patriot?? dazzled the crowd.

Bank President Brian Berhorst said, ??We??re going with the American theme with our name. There is nothing more American than a bald eagle and red, white and blue. That??s why we brought them out here to do a presentation.??

Bank officials are holding open houses at all of their locations throughout the year.

The next anniversary celebration happens on June 7 at Mid America Bank??s Meta branch.
