Thousands of people gathered in Jefferson City for Mid-Missouriâ??s biggest plant sale of the year.
Members of the Central Missouri Master Gardeners offered plants, trees, shrubs and vegetables at their annual sale.
Lines were 2 blocks long when the event opened Saturday at 7 a.m.
Since 1999, the sale has grown from a small parking lot to the Jayceeâ??s Cole County Fairgrounds.
Every plant was sold in less than 4 hours.
Master Gardener Steve Stacey said, â??Half of the plants come from our greenhouse and hoop house. The other plants come straight from our master gardenersâ?? gardens. Everyone chips in and brings in some of their choice plants. They all come together here for this sale.â??
The sale raised more than $30,000.
Most of the money pays for college scholarships for students studying plant sciences.
The rest pays for next yearâ??s plants and gardening equipment as well as gardening projects in the Jefferson City area.
