Lincoln University president supports ratings plan

Lincoln University President Kevin Rome said he supports any effort that would lead to more college graduates and more funding for students.

President Obama has a new plan to lower the cost of college.

Obama is promoting a new system that rates colleges and universities on their financial value.

Under the plan, students would get their federal financial aid based on those ratings.

Federal officials would judge schools on affordability and performance.

American taxpayers pay more than $150 billion in student financial aid every year.

Lincoln University President Kevin Rome said he supports any effort that would lead to more college graduates and more funding for students.

Rome said, ??What we really need to do is have states invest more in higher education and the federal government come up with practical programs that work for students. With the two working together, I??m sure we could have more students to enroll in college and complete college.??

President Obama wants his proposed college financial aid rating system to be up and running by 2018.
