Jefferson City Police investigating "suspicious" death

Police were taking photos inside 208 McKinley St. Saturday evening.

A Jefferson City man is in custody as police continue to investigate what they are calling a suspicious death from over the weekend.

Jefferson City Police began their investigation of the suspicious death at 208 McKinley Street on Saturday.

According to court documents, Albert Glisson was charged with domestic assault and is being held at Cole County Jail on a $100,000 bond.

Those court documents indicate that he admitted to police that he struck the victim several times with his fist Friday night.

The female victim was found dead on Saturday.

The autopsy performed on Monday did not indicate the victim was murdered.

Zachary West lives on McKinley St. directly across from the house being investigated and said this kind of incident is uncommon in the area. On Saturday afternoon, there were at least four police cars parked outside of the McKinley street home.

"It's usually pretty quiet and calm around here. We don't have very many things like this happen," West said.

According to police there was no record of violence between the victim and the suspect before this incident.

The victim's children are staying with their grandparents.

Jefferson City Police told us the investigation is still on-going.

KRCG will post new information as it becomes available.
