Columbia firefighters started their annual fire hydrant testing program.
They want to make sure hydrants have enough water flow and pressure.
Firefighters plan to inspect more than 6,500 hydrants during the next 2 months.
Water customers might notice reduced water pressure when a nearby hydrant is tested.
They also could see some temporary discolored water.
Columbia Fire Department Captain Kliff Bullard said, ??Neither one of these are things that you need to be concerned about. You should avoid doing laundry if you do find discolored water. It is safe to drink at all times.??
If you experience any problems with your water, you can call the Columbia Water & Light Department at 573-874-6229 or 573-875-2555 after hours.
