Hartzler wants full market access for farmers

Hartzler sent a letter to President Obama asking him to push Japan to eliminate tariff and non-tariff trade barriers for agriculture products.

Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler wants a level playing field for Missouri farmers.

Hartzler spoke to reporters while touring Columbia??s Shelter Insurance Headquarters.

She is leading efforts to urge the Obama Administration to push for full market access for U.S. agriculture products in the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade talks.

Hartzler and more than 60 other house members sent a letter to President Obama asking him to push Japan to eliminate tariff and non-tariff trade barriers for agriculture products.

Hartzler said, ??Now is the time to include everything in the discussions including all of the exports of Missouri products that are important to our farmers. I wanted to make sure, and so did my colleagues, that we signed that letter so the President understands that we cannot accept these parameters that Japan is putting out. We need to stand strong for all of Missouri agriculture.??

Hartzler??s letter to the President is endorsed by the Missouri Corn Growers, Missouri Cattlemen, Missouri Pork Association and Missouri Farm Bureau.
