Hartzler says budget deal reduces spending

Hartzler said she was happy that the federal budget deal cleared a key hurdle in the Senate today.

4th District Congresswoman Vicki Hartzler said a federal budget deal moving through congress would help prevent further government shutdowns like the 16-day stoppage in October.

That shutdown politically damaged republican members of congress.

Hartzler toured Columbia??s veterans?? hospital this afternoon.

Hartzler spoke with reporters after her tour and said she was happy that the federal budget deal cleared a key hurdle in the Senate today.

Hartzler voted yes on the proposal in the House.

The deal reduces the deficit by $23 billion over 10 years.

Hartzler expects the budget agreement to win final congressional approval tomorrow.

Hartzler said, ??I certainly didn??t approve of everything in the deal. I think it??s important to work with both sides of the aisle. We found solutions to funding our government. We replaced some of the onerous cuts. Overall, we stay on that path to reducing our spending. That??s very important.??

President Obama has shown his support for the federal budget deal which has bi-partisan support.
