The latest numbers show violent crime in Columbia is the lowest itâ??s been in the past 20 years.
The new statistics also show robberies havenâ??t been lower since 2003 and the amount of assaults is the lowest in the past 20 years.
Property crimes have slightly increased.
Despite the positive numbers, the Executive Director of the Columbia Police Officersâ?? Association Dale Roberts said Columbia needs 40 new officers to keep up with public safety.
City Manager Mike Matthes added 2 new officers in October.
