Columbia's new high school to break ground

Columbia Public Schools will break ground on a new high school Thursday. The groundbreaking ceremony will take place at 4 p.m. at the school TMs 80-acre site on St. Charles Road.

The school will have the capacity to hold between 1,800 and 2,000 students in a roughly 300,000 square foot building. The building will feature numerous environmentally friendly features.

Funding of the school TMs construction is provided by the passage of a no-tax increase bond issues in April 2007 and 2010.
