More than 1,200 Columbia city employees felt some appreciation today.
City leaders held their annual Employee Appreciation Picnic at Albert-Oakland Park.
Organizers used money from the city budget to spend about $7 on each person for their barbecue lunch.
City employees also played games and listened to music.
The event was held over a 3 hour period to accommodate different lunch shifts.
Columbia Public Works spokesman Rick Kaufmann said, â??Itâ??s great to come out and get to know some fellow employees who maybe I donâ??t interact with everyday and meet some new people.â??
Some employees were given outstanding service awards after being nominated by co-workers and department heads.
