A benefit yard sale in Eldon is taking place to raise money for a Miller County deputy who collapsed while on duty in May.
22-year-old Tom McClelland is on a long recovery after he was found without a pulse and not breathing. McClelland was in intensive care for two weeks. Doctors say he went into cardiac arrest, but they're unsure of what caused it.
McClelland and his mother say they're overwhelmed by the community's support.
â??It means a lot,â?? said McClelland. â??Itâ??s amazing how many people are helping me out, and I donâ??t know what Iâ??d do if they didnâ??t.â??
â??Theyâ??ve just really blown me away and overwhelmed me with how the communityâ??s stepped in and really been there to help,â?? said his mother, Melissa Burnett.
The yard sale takes place at the gravel lot next to Tamâ??s Triple T from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Organizers are still accepting donations.
