Wrong-way interstate crash injures one, suspects arrested following pursuit
MONTGOMERY COUNTY —
Deputies said a truck driver sustained moderate-to-severe injuries Thursday morning after being involved in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 70.
According to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, a wrong-way driver, headed eastbound in the westbound lanes, struck a truck at the 175 mile marker at about 5:30 a.m. Ambulance personnel took the driver to the hospital, but the wrong-way driver and his passenger ran away.
Deputies said the two individuals were found in the New Florence area, arrested and taken to the Montgomery County Jail, where they were placed on a 24-hour investigative holds.
The sheriff's office said the investigation is ongoing.
Montgomery County deputies responded to the accident, along with the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
