      Wounded man arrested in Columbia shooting

      Columbia police arrested 23-year-old Coty Galbreath Wednesday night in connection with a shooting near the intersection of Texas and Garth Avenues.

      UPDATE: JULY 4, 2013 2:30 a.m.

      The man who was wounded in a Columbia shooting Wednesday has now been arrested in connection with the crime.

      Columbia Police arrested 23-year-old Coty Galbreath Thursday.

      He faces charges of armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon and felon in possession of a weapon.

      The shooting happened near the intersection of Texas and Garth Avenues.

      Police said Galbreath was treated at a local hospital for a non-life threatening injury.

      The investigation is ongoing.

      Columbia Police are investigating a shooting where one man was wounded on Wednesday.

      The shooting happened near the intersection of Texas and Garth Avenues.

      Police believe people in two vehicles fired shots at each other.

      Officers found 27 shell casings from three diffferent weapons and b ullets had struck two houses in the area.

      One vehicle involved in the shooting was found abandoned near the roundabout at Garth Avenue and Blue Ridge Road.

      The second vehicle, a blue chrysler, has also been found abandoned in the 1900 Block of Jackson Street and was damaged by gunfire.

      Police said its too early to tell if Wednesday's shooting was gang related or connected to other recent violent crimes.

      The injury that the male victim obtained during the shooting is non-life-threatening.
