      Worley Street shooting leads to an arrest

      Jamar Burns was arrested for armed criminal action and 2 counts of first degree assault

      Columbia Police have made an arrest in the July 5th shooting on West Worley Street that injured two women.

      Police say 23-year-old Jamar Burns was taken to the Boone County Jail Saturday for armed criminal action and 2 counts of first degree assault.

      Detectives first arrested Burns Friday morning for marijuana and a handgun.

      On July 5th, officers were called to the 300 block of West Worley for multiple shots fired.

      When they arrived, police found a 26-year-old female victim with a gunshot wound. She was transported to the hospital with a non-life threatening injury.

      A second victim, a 17-year-old female, was grazed by a bullet. She did not require medical attention.

      Burns faces charges of trespassing, possession of less than 35 grams of marijuana, felony possession of a controlled substance, and unlawful possession of a concealed weapon.
