Construction crews raised a 330,000 pound concrete bowl on a new water tower near the new Jefferson City fire station on Highway 179.
Workers used more than 30 hydraulic jacks to move the bowl to the top of the Missouri American Water tower.
The new tank will hold a million and a half gallons of water.
It will improve water pressure on the west side of the city.
Missouri American Water Operations Manager David Treece said, â??Weâ??re looking to stabilize pressures and fluctuation. When the fire department has a call and they use the fire hydrants, it will be very reliable for them to fight the fires.â??
The new tower is expected to be ready this fall.
Crews will paint the tank with â??The City of Jeffersonâ?? on one side and the Missouri American Water logo on the other side.
