Woman punched in face during home invasion

A woman was punched in the face during a home invasion in Columbia early Wednesday morning.

Columbia Police were dispatched to the 2400 block of Nifong at about 3:00 am, where a man broke into a woman's home through an unlocked window. Police say the suspect entered her bedroom, and shined a flashlight in the woman's face. He left the room and when the woman opened her bedroom door, he punched her in the face. The suspect then left through the front door.

Nothing was stolen and the victim had minor injuries.

The suspect is described as a white college-aged man, about 6' tall and was wearing a dark colored shirt with cargo shorts.

A police dog was used to track the suspect's scent, but no one was located.

No arrests have been made and the investigations are ongoing.
