Woman arrested for drugs, endangering children

A Sedalia woman is in custody on $250,000 bond after a traffic stop Wednesday turned up large quantities of illegal drugs in her car.

According to Detective Michael Elwood of the Sedalia Police Department, 33-year-old Heather Reed of Sedalia faces charges relating to the possession of methamphetamine, marijuana, and prescription drugs. She is also accused of the illegal possession of a firearm, and child endangerment charges since three small children were in the car with her when she was stopped. She is also accused of driving while revoked.

Investigators say Reed had in her possession quantities of drugs that were consistent with distribution, and constituted amounts "far beyond the typical amount the average...user would possess."

Reed was charged as a habitual drug user in possession of a firearm after a 9mm pistol was seized.

In all, Reed faces 12 drug, firearm, child endangerment, and driving charges.
