Wintry weather returns on Friday the 13th

Higher snow totals north of I-70. South of I-70 minor ice accumulation also possible.

Friday's Weather for mid-Missouri? Messy.

We'll start the day off with some rain but there will be a brief window for freezing rain before temperatures climb to the mid/upper 30s on Friday. The afternoon will bring mostly rain but will mix with some sleet and snow by the late afternoon. We'll also see a window for freezing rain during the evening as temperatures fall. That could create a few travel hazards. Areas receiving freezing rain could see up to 1/10 of an inch of ice.

Areas south of US 50 and east of US 65 have the highest chance for ice accumulation. North of US 50 the snow accumulations begin to increase and could become significant north of I-70.

A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for areas north of I-70 and a Winter Weather Advisory for areas south of I-70 for Friday through early Saturday morning. Traveling could be hazardous in these areas and is not advised.
