Westminster selects familiar face as next college president
A former school president is returning to his former position after a decade away from mid-Missouri.
Dr. Fletcher Lamkin will take over as the president of Westminster College later this year, as announced by the school Monday afternoon.
Lamkin served in that role from 2000-2007. He was most recently president at West Virginia University at Parkersburg.
“I have loved my time at WVU-Parkersburg,” Lamkin said in a release. “Westminster is the only school that could have induced me to leave. Like so many of its faculty, students, and alumni, I developed a lifelong passion about Westminster and its belief in the ‘power of purpose,’ and I am thrilled to be returning.”
He will replace Dr. Carolyn Perry, who has been acting president since the August resignation of Dr. Benjamin Akande. Dr. Perry will return to her previous position as Senior Vice President of the College and Dean of Faculty, a release from Westminster College stated.
