Update: 6 charged in child sex abuse case

      Update, Nov. 12:

Authorities have identified additional victims and arrested a sixth adult in connection with a child sex abuse case in western Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says Larry Kidd, 55, from Kansas City was arrested Thursday night without incident. Kidd is not related to the other five defendants and is described as an "associate" of the others, who include a 77-year-old man and his four adult sons.

The highway patrol says the man was arrested in Jackson County on suspicion of raping a child under 14 years of age. He was taken to a jail in neighboring Lafayette County Jail where the other defendants also are being held.

The arrest came after Wednesday's news conference which resulted in the identification of "additional victims" in the case.

No information was released on the other victims.

      Original Story:

Mohler, 52, of Lamoni, Iowa, Burrell Edward Mohler Sr., 77, of Independence, Mo., Burrell Edward Mohler Jr., 53, also of Independence, Mo. and Roland Neil Mohler, 47, of Bates City, Mo. from left, are seen.

The father and his four adult sons are charged with several felonies, including sodomy and rape involving children under 12.

The men appeared in Lafayette County court in orange jumpsuits and with shackles at their wrist, waist and ankles. The judge read the charges against them. The men did not enter pleas and did not appear to have representation at the 20-minute hearing.

The men are being held on cash bonds. Their next court hearing is scheduled for Nov. 17.

Meanwhile, authorities were preparing to resume the search for evidence, including possible bodies, on land in nearby Bates City where the abuse allegedly occurred.
