UM System president responds to Missouri NAACP travel advisory
University of Missouri System President Mun Choi responded to the travel advisory issued by the NAACP for the state of Missouri.
In the advisory, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People specifically mentioned the "racist attacks on University of Missouri students while on the states’ campuses – as the University of Missouri System spoke in favor of Romine’s Jim Crow Bill."
Choi expressed disappointment in learning of the advisory and said he had a positive conversation with Missouri NAACP Nimrod Chapel and discussed ideas to improve the campus environment across the UM System.
The UM System president concluded his statement as below:
"We all share a commitment to create a community that values the diversity of background, experiences, perspectives and thought. At the University of Missouri System (including MU, UMKC, S&T and UMSL campuses), my colleagues have made remarkable progress toward this objective. We invite everyone with an interest in the University to visit and experience for themselves the vibrant and inclusive community of learning, research and engagement that is at the heart and soul of our University."
