Two sex offenders arrested during compliance checks

Thu, 13 Dec 2012 21:17:57 GMT — Two men were arrested Thursday for failing to register as sex offenders in Boone County. Both have a $4,500 bond.Larry Tapp, 51, and Joseph Williams, 39, have both been convicted of sex crimes, but have not complied with legally-mandated sexual offender registration requirements.Deputies and detectives with the Boone County Sheriff's Department did random compliance checks for sex offenders, who must register with the department periodically and provide a current, valid address, DNA swab and other information.Most offenders in the approximately 50 residences checked through mid-afternoon Thursday were in compliance with the terms of their registration.
