Two people injured in crash, alcohol possible factor
JEFFERSON CITY —
A driver and passenger had to be extricated from their vehicle following a crash in the 800 block of Belair Dr. shortly after 7:30 p.m. Thursday, according to the Jefferson City Police Department.
Officers said Gary Gieck, Jr., 38 of Jefferson City, was driving southbound when he lost control and slid sideways. His Chevy Silverado then reportedly ran off the left side of the roadway and hit a tree on the passenger side.
Gieck suffered moderate injuries. The passenger, 26-year-old Jonathan Cooper of Jefferson City, suffered serious injuries.
Both were taken to a local hospital.
Neither had a seat belt on. Police said alcohol is suspected in the crash.
