Two overnight shots fired calls in Columbia

Columbia police are investigation two overnight shootings.

Columbia Police are investigating two overnight shootings, but say there is no evidence at this time the the two incidents are related.

Officers on patrol in the 900 block of Business Loop 70 heard several gun shots at 1:39 a.m. Sunday. Joint Communications also received several phone calls about gunfire in the area.

Police found one bullet in the road at North Boulevard and Coats Street. They did not find any witnesses and there were no injuries reported to the police department.

About an hour later, officers were dispatched to the area of Citadel and Derby Ridge for another shooting.

Officers there found nine shell casings on the west side of Derby Ridge near the 1600 block of Citadel.

Officers also found six bullet holes in a home on the 1700 block of Bold Ruler.

This is the same home where shots were fired on March 13.

The residents were not home at the time of the shooting Sunday morning. There are no reports of injuries from this incident.

Both investigations are ongoing and police do not have suspect information at this time for either incident.
