Two injured in Maries County crash

Two men were seriously injured in a crash on Highway 42 near Belle Sunday evening.

31-year-old James Snyder, of Belle, and 20-year-old Justin Maxwell, of Chamois, were hospitalized after the truck Snyder was driving ran off the right side of the roadway, striking a fence and tree.

Snyder was partly ejected from the truck. He was airlifted to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis with serious injuries. Maxwell was taken to Capital Region Medical Center with serious injuries.

According to Maries County Sheriff Chris Heitman, it is suspected that high speeds and alcohol contributed to the crash. Neither man was wearing a seatbelt.
