Two-car crash closes lanes on U.S. 54, injures three
JEFFERSON CITY —
Jefferson City Police responded to the 1300 block of U.S. 54 for a multiple vehicle crash Saturday morning.
The investigation revealed that two separate crashes had occurred shortly before 10 a.m.
The first was a single car non-injury crash in the eastbound lanes.
The second crash was in the westbound lanes when 67-year-old Gary Prenger stopped his car in the passing lane to see if assistance was needed by the driver from the first crash.
Prenger's 2008 Buick was then struck from behind by 24-year-old Allison Schneiders.
Prenger and Schneiders' passengers sustained injuries and were taken by EMS to a local hospital, according to a JCPD release.
Schneiders chose to go to the hospital with a relative that responded to the scene.
Due to the crash, eastbound lanes were blocked to one lane. Both of the westbound lanes were also blocked while emergency crews were on scene.
All lanes have reopened.
