Two arrested in connection to vehicle pursuit
WARREN COUNTY —
The Boone County Sheriff's Department said a driver and passenger are in custody following a vehicle pursuit around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Deputies said Samantha Rachels, 23, of St. Louis, and Diane Williams, 44, of O'Fallon, led them through Boone, Callaway and Montgomery Counties before ending the pursuit in Warren County.
Deputies said they responded to a report of a stolen 2012 Mitsubishi Eclipse. The report claimed the vehicle was traveling east bound on Interstate 70 near Stadium Boulevard in Columbia.
After an attempt to conduct a traffic stop failed, Rachels allegedly began traveling at speeds over 90 miles per hour. Tire deflation devices were used to stop the vehicle near the 189-mile marker of Interstate 70 in Warren County.
Rachels was accused with first-degree tampering with a vehicle, resisting arrest, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, and careless and imprudent driving involving an accident. Williams was accused of second-degree tampering with a motor vehicle. She had warrants in St. Louis and St. Charles for two counts of first-degree tampering, obstructing police, and a traffic bond.
Bond was not set for Rachels and Williams.
