A man and woman were arrested Monday after leading police on a high-speed chase through Callaway County.
Police attempted to stop the driver, 26-year-old Hazel R. Benton of Holts Summit, after they identified the vehicle as stolen out of Centralia. Benton did not stop and led police on a pursuit from Fulton to Hams Prairie on County Road 409 until she ran the car into a tree.
Benton and the passenger, 29-year-old Deric W. Farley of Portland, MO, attempted to run from police but were found and arrested a short time later.
Benton was arrested for first-degree tampering with a vehicle, resisting felony arrest, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while revoked. She also had two warrants out of Cole and Maries County. She was transported to Callaway County Jail with a bond of $12,500.
Farley was arrested for second-degree tampering with a vehicle and resisting arrest.
