Sun, 11 Nov 2012 21:45:33 GMT — COLUMBIA, Mo. -- It was a little windy, but overall, it was a nice day to get out and enjoy the outdoors, and some people in Columbia were doing just that for a great cause. Tunnel to Towers held a run and walk event at Stephens Lake Park Sunday morning, and it was one of the 40 tunnel to towers runs being held around the country. The run aims to retrace the final footsteps of new york firefighter Stephen Siller, who was last seen running through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel in New York on September 11, 2001. Organizers say this movement started that day when he was coming back to his station, but then got a urgent page from his battalion. "And he jumped out of his truck, and of course he lost his life that day, so it's following in his footsteps, that's what that means," said Columbia Firefighter and event organizer Jim Pasley. All proceeds from the event went to help wounded marine Tyler Huffman pay for his smart-home that was built in Jefferson City recently.
