Two trains collided in the small Gasconade County town of Morrison Tuesday afternoon, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

According to the patrol, no one was killed and two people, one of them a train engineer, were injured in the accident, although the extent of the injuries are unknown. One train reportedly rear-ended the other on the eastern edge of Morrison.

Lt. Paul Reinsch of the Highway Patrol said information indicates that train cars are off the tracks near County Road 201 and First Street in Morrison.

Rail cars were off the tracks and lying on both sides of the track, according to Reinsch.

Reinsch says authorities also have not confirmed whether there is a hazardous materials danger. Officials did not release what materials were on either train.

The National Transportation Safety Board has not opened an investigation. A spokesman for the NTSB says they do not investigate every train accident. However, he said the administration might open an investigation later.
