Toddler's death draws 15 year sentence for Clark, Mo man

Joseph Laswell gets 15 years for toddler's death.

15 years in prison, that's the sentence for a Clark, Missouri man for killing a toddler.

Joe Laswell made a plea deal Thursday in Randolph County Court.

Laswell pleaded guilty to charges of second degree murder and abuse or neglect of a child and got 15 years for each, to be served concurrently.

Prosecutors dropped a domestic assault charge.

Laswell was convicted of killing 18 month old Jayden Bradds in November of 2012.

The boy was his girlfriend's child.

Court documents show Laswell initially told officers Jayden had tripped over a toy and struck his head on a table, but he later admitted to pushing Jayden to the ground because the child picked up Laswell's cellphone.
