A Callaway County man was arrested Tuesday for child pornography after an approximately four-month-long investigation.
Authorities arrested 50-year-old Frederick Lawson at his home in the 700 block of Halifax Road in Holts Summit.
The arrest came after a joint investigation of the Boone County Sheriffâ??s Department Cyber Crimes Task Force, the Callaway County Sheriffâ??s Department and the Nixa Police Department.
The investigation began in early December, when the Boone County Sheriffâ??s Department Cyber Crimes Task Force was contacted by the Nixa Police Department. Over several days, the Nixa police downloaded child pornography through a file-sharing program from a computer believed to be in the mid-Missouri area.
Authorities with the Cyber Crimes Task Force and the Callaway County Sheriffâ??s Department served a court order search warrant Tuesday at the home on Halifax Road, which is where the illegal files were believed to have been distributed.
While there, authorities found numerous movies on a computer that showed children, some believed to be as young as three years old, being sexually molested, according to the Boone County Sheriff's Department.
The files found in the home were linked to Lawson.
Investigators also seized several computers and other associated media from the home during the search.
Lawson was arrested for suspicion of possession of child pornography in the first degree and was taken to the Callaway County Jail, pending the filing of formal charges.
Lawson was also charged with suspicion of possession of marijuana, possession of an imitation controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
