A Creve Coeur man was arrested for DWI after a crash sent three children to the hospital with serious injuries Monday afternoon.
59-year-old James O'Brien was traveling eastbound on Highway 54 near Route E in Cole County around 2:00 p.m. His SUV went off the left side of the highway into the median, striking two road signs and a car.
The car, driven by 16-year-old Dylan Evers of Henley, was stopped in the median to turn south on Route E.
Three children in the car were sent to the hospital in serious condition. 6-year-old Gavin Reed of Jefferson City and 7-year-old Joseph Evers of Henley were taken by life flight to University Hospital. 15-year-old Jaylin McKinney of Eugene was taken by ambulance.
O'Brien was arrested for six felony counts of second-degree assault, driving in a careless and imprudent manner and driving under the influence.
