The heat is on

Hot temperatures and high humidity values will bring dangerous heat to Mid-Missouri on Tuesday afternoon. Highs will top out almost 10 degrees above normal in the mid 90s with the heat index between 100-105. A Heat Advisory is in effect for the western side of the viewing area, but we'll all be under similar conditions. Sunstroke, muscle cramps and heat exhaustion are all possible if you're going to be outside. Be sure to take frequent breaks, stay hydrated and check on the elderly, kids and pets.

Relief from the heat will arrive Tuesday night as a cold front slides in from the north. Showers and storms will be possible overnight into Wednesday. Some of the storms could be strong/severe with wind and hail as the main threats.
