Teen swept into storm drain

File photo: water rescue in Eldon

Rescue crews have spent Friday evening searching for a teenager who disappeared into a storm drain near 5th and Miller Streets in Eldon.

Authorities tell KRCG the 17 year old was playing with his brothers in 3-4 feet of water in a concrete culvert when he was sucked into a storm drain. Rescue crews are using a camera to see into the pipe and locate the man. No word on his condition.

The mayor says the others playing with the missing teen tried their own rescue efforts before authorities arrived. The Missouri Highway Patrol, Eldon and Lake Ozark Fire Departments are assisting with the efforts. We are told when the water recedes the Highway Patrol dive team will also be used.
