Teen sentenced in shooting death

16-year-old Lamar Mayfield was sentenced to 17 years in prison for the murder of Bryan Rankin in 2012.

A Columbia teen pleaded guilty in the shooting death of another teen last spring.

Today in Boone County court, 16-year-old Lamar Mayfield pleaded guilty to second degree murder and armed criminal action. Police say he shot and killed 17-year-old Bryan Rankin in April of 2012.

After he pleaded guilty, victim impact evidence was heard.

A judge sentenced Mayfield to 17 years in prison for both of the charges.
