Some Columbia Mall employees recovered on Thursday night from a hard day’s work after thousands of parents took advantage of a 'beary' good deal.

Build-a-Bear Workshop owners held their first ever Pay Your Age Day, and parents lined up quickly wanting a stuffed animal, which cost just $1 for every year of their child’s age.

Columbia Mall managers said thousands of shoppers gathered at the Build-a-Bear Workshop kiosk about 7 a.m. for the new promotion.

Megan Barry arrived at the mall with her sister and niece only to find out store managers sold out of the furry friends in less than 2 hours.

“We got here at 9:30, I think," Barry said. "The line was already completely wrapped around out to the side. They were already sold out. We got a little voucher. They were really sweet about it. It’s pretty chaotic.”

Thursday’s Pay Your Age Day promotion caused disruptions requiring extra security at Build-a-Bear Workshops all across the United States and the United Kingdom.
