Suspicious vehicle leads to meth bust in Moniteau County

The Moniteau County Sheriff’s Office received information regarding a suspicious vehicle parked in a field east of Tipton Wednesday afternoon.

Deputies were dispatched and on their way to the field when they learned the car was traveling toward Tipton.

The Tipton Police Department was notified and began looking for the car, according to a Moniteau County release.

Police eventually found it at an apartment complex in Tipton.

Authorities made contact with three people by the car and then called for a K-9 Unit to help.

K-9 officer Mizzou alerted police to the presence of drugs in the car. Upon a formal search of the vehicle, 325 grams of methamphetamine was recovered, a street value of over $30,000.

Russellville resident William Crabtree and Tipton resident Krya Hankey were taken into custody on $250,000 bond for first degree drug trafficking.

Both were transported to the Moniteau County Jail for booking, other possible arrests were pending.
