Tue, 06 May 2014 21:41:21 GMT — Showers and thunderstorms look like they will re-enter the forecast later this week. The first round of showers and thunderstorms will move early in the morning on Thursday. These storms would mainly impact the western and northern counties in Mid-Missouri and would move out quickly by the noon hour.Once the morning storms move out, expect some sunshine to return and temperatures to warm into the upper 70s/lower 80s across the area. This will allow the atmosphere to become more unstable in the afternoon as a cold front moves out of Kansas and Iowa into Missouri. The primetime for thunderstorms in Mid-Missouri would be in the late afternoon and evening hours. Storms will hang around all evening and most of Thursday night. Lingering thunderstorms should be out of the area by sunrise on Friday. All of Mid-Missouri has the chance to see some stronger storms on Thursday (green area), however, I think the higher chance for severe weather will be west of Hwy 63 (yellow outline). The main threats will be large hail and some damaging winds. The KRCG 13 StormVision weather team will continue to finetune the forecast and timing of the showers and thunderstorms over the next few days.
