Stolen car sighting leads to drug arrest

Chet Jones was arrested early Sunday morning.

A Columbia man is in Boone County Jail after being caught driving a car that had been reported stolen.

A Boone County Sheriff's Deputy pulled over a 2010 Honda in the early morning hours on Sunday.

An automatic license plate reader had alerted the deputy that the car had been reported stolen on Friday.

The car was traveling westbound on I-70 and authorities were able to stop the car on Clark Lane near the Highway 63 connector.

The driver, Chet Jones, was taken into custody without incident.

At the time of his arrest, Jones was in possession of less than 35 grams of marijuana and was driving with a suspended license.

Jones was arrested for tampering with a motor vehicle, driving while suspended and possession of less than 35 grams of marijuana.

His bond was set at $5,000.
