Fri, 25 Jul 2014 03:10:24 GMT — A civilian employee of the St. Louis Police Department is facing charges for allegedly impersonating an officer and sexually assaulting a male victim. Authorities say 28-year-old Michael Cornell sexually touched the man last year, then went to the hotel where the man worked and asked for his personnel records while claiming to be a police officer. Cornell was indicted Wednesday on four counts of deviate sexual assault and one count of third-degree assault. He was previously charged with felony sodomy related to the same alleged victim. He is jailed on $150,000 bond. Cornell is suspended without pay from his job in the prisoner processing section of the police department.
